Kukri Sports X Horowhenua Kapiti Rugby Union: 3 More Years

December 10, 2021 | |

Following a successful 7-year partnership as the official teamwear supplier to Horowhenua Kapiti Rugby Union (HKRFU) Kukri Sports are delighted to announce a 3-year extension, running until 2024.

HKRFU was established in 1893 as the Horowhenua Rugby Football Union and changed to its current name of Horowhenua-Kapiti in 1997, in order to reflect the full extent of the Union’s Districts. HKRFU currently compete in the Heartland Rugby Championship in Levin, New Zealand and has a stake in the Hurricanes Rugby Franchise, which they are aligned with. During their 125th Anniversary Year in 2018, they won the Lochore Cup, beating Wairarapa Bush 26-23 in the Final.

Horowhenua-Kapiti has a proud history of producing some of New Zealand’s top All Blacks, including Carlos Spencer & Christian Cullen, as well as the two current All Black hookers Dane Coles and Codie Taylor. Dane Coles played as a 15-year-old in the HKRFU Representative Program, which resulted in him making the New Zealand U17 team.

Rugby Development Officer and current HKRFU Heartland Captain (99 games*) Ryan Shelford said:

“For 7 years Kukri’s products have been servicing our staff, representative teams and other members of our rugby community. We use a wide range of their apparel, travel bags, polo’s, t-shirts, puffer jackets, team playing kits, reserve jackets and tracksuits to name a few. We appreciate the time and effort that Kukri puts into their customer service and we value our relationship with such a remarkable brand. A big thank you to the team at Kukri and we are looking forward to the next 3 years”.
